FACEBOOK page for Sonoma County Autism Support!

I set up a Facebook group for Sonoma County Autism Support and have been inviting all of my local Sonoma County FB friends to tell their family and friends who have children on the Autism spectrum to join, which then points them here. I wanted to make you all aware of it, too. So many people know someone who has kids on the Spectrum, but don't know that we're all here too, to talk to, to connect with, to arrange playdates for our kids (how's that workin' out so far? LOL I know, it's slow going,…See More

Hi to all of our members and happy holidays to all of you! We've got 30 members now who are all local folks with kids on the Autism Spectrum. I'm still convinced that we can utilize this forum to (a) get to know about each other and about each other's children, and (b) use this forum as a method of communicating through difficult times, to arrange playdates, get-togethers, barbecues, etc. Perhaps we can use this discussion as a place to simply list the bare essentials about one another in order…See More

Hi everyone,The Ning Network, upon which this forum sits, just offered me the ability for all of us to login through our Facebook accounts, or through Google or Yahoo. I set that up for us, which included me setting up a Facebook page called Sonoma County Autism Support. I'm not sure what this means exactly (LOL), and when I followed Ning's instructions to set up the Facebook connection, Facebook made me submit an "application" but then wouldn't allow me to "submit" it until 5 people are…See More

Hello and thank you for your kind welcome.  Although I joined the group, I don't know how helpful it may be as my child is a young adult, 23 years old and only recently diagnosed on the spectrum within the past year.  I was looking more for a support group in Sonoma County (Santa Rosa preferably) comprised of parents with adult children and most of what I see here are young children.  Adult children present some different problems and situations than younger children.  Do you know if your group has parents of adult children ?

Hi Don, Thank you for befriending me. My husband and I have 4 children (2 sets of twins) ages of 5 and 9yrs old. My youngest son, Nathan was diagnosed on the Autism spectrum at age 2yrs. We have a very busy household. We look forward to finding out more about the support group and anything else that may assist us in helping our son and family. Thanks, Michelle

I am all about supporting eachother! What is a night out? I can't remember the last time my husband and I went out to dinner.... I am really looking forward to this group. I haven't found much success with Matrix, and it's nice this is all local friends! It would be great if the Dad's could get together. My husband could really use some male support.

Hi Don
I would love to start a conversation about classroom experiences for kids on the spectrum in Santa Rosa as I am working on placements for my kids (3) for next school year.

Thanks! Karen

Nancy I am sure you will be able to share fellow parents and myself what you know about biomedical and behavior interventions. As I stated in our first group meeting, I will be learning from you, all of you. If you don't mind I would like to know more about the Santa Rosa Talk About Curing Autism Chapter as well.

I, too, am grateful for the opportunity to connect with other parents of kids with Autism. I've been to TACA meetings, too. I'm glad you're here, Nancy. :-)

Hi Don,
I am pleased to join with other folks touched by autism (asd). My grandson was diagnosed at 4 and we have been on this journey for 3 1/2 years. We do biomedical and behavior interventions and he has made great progress. I am coordinator of the Santa Rosa Talk About Curing Autism chapter which is parents supporting parents with information, friendship and emotional support. I am happy to be here and share what I can.
